Harry Kane Scores 27th Goal for England in Win Over Iran

England kick off their World Cup campaign with a 6-2 victory over Iran.

Harry Kane opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 35th minute, and Bukayo Saka doubled the lead just before half-time. Raheem Sterling made it 3-0 early in the second half, and Saka added his second of the game in the 62nd minute. Marcus Rashford and Jack Grealish completed the rout in the closing stages. Mehdi Taremi scored two late consolation goals for Iran.

The victory is England's biggest in a World Cup match since 1982, and it moves them to the top of Group B. Iran, meanwhile, are bottom of the group and will need to beat Wales in their next match to have any chance of reaching the knockout stages.

Kane's goal was his 27th for England, moving him into joint-fourth place on the country's all-time scoring list. He is now just one goal behind Bobby Charlton, who is third on the list with 28 goals.

The win was also a good result for Gareth Southgate, who has been under pressure after a poor run of form in recent months. Southgate will be hoping that this victory can be a turning point for his team, and that they can go on to have a successful World Cup.
